Stone Coast Retreat
Costa Brava, Spain
A Mediterranean escape built from local stone that steps down toward the cliffs of Costa Brava. The design uses traditional masonry techniques combined with large-scale glazing to merge with the sea.
Costa Brava is defined by its rugged cliffs and the meeting of stone and salt. Stone Coast Retreat was designed to disappear into this coastline, following the natural terraces of the site through five distinct levels.
The material palette is a tribute to the local quarry. We used dry-stack stone for the primary walls, creating a sense of weight and permanence that contrasts with the transparency of the living areas.
The flow of the house is dictated by the view. As you move from the hillside entrance toward the sea, the spaces open up, culminating in an infinity pool that appears to merge seamlessly with the Mediterranean horizon.
