Pine Glass Cabin
Telemark, Norway
A glass and timber sanctuary nestled in the Norwegian forest. This cabin prioritizes transparency and a minimal footprint, allowing the forest to become the primary interior finish.
In the forests of Telemark, the transition between the seasons is the most dramatic event. Our goal was to create a residence that participants in this cycle rather than merely observing it.
The house is elevated on slender steel stilts to protect the delicate forest floor. The structural frame is a hybrid of local pine Glulam and blackened steel, supporting 360 degrees of high-performance triple glazing.
Winter light is precious in Norway. The cabin's orientation was calculated to maximize heat gain from the low winter sun, while the dense pine canopy provides natural cooling in the summer. It is a home that breathes with the forest.
